sm. farmers project
Eugene, Oregon
In the fall of 2010, nine students and I partnered with the Small Farmers Project, a local farmer co-op, on a structure for tractor storage, a walk-in cooler, vending space, and a “third space,” for a variety of functions throughout the growing season. We engaged in a collaborative design process with all seven families, detailing a structure we could build with a $5000 grant from Heifer International. To support the eventual growth of the Small Farmers Project, the structure was designed to be entirely deconstructable with a wrench and screw gun, so that the structure could be reassembled on a larger farm in the future. I managed the construction of the project, directing 5-20 students and farmers over six months.
